When one hears the name Lombok, one thinks of pristine beaches, lush rainforests, stunning scenery, and traditional culture. Despite the island’s beauty, there’s another side to Lombok that’s often overlooked: the problem of orphans. The orphan problem on Lombok is similar to that found in other parts of Indonesia and around the world. Some of the reasons are poverty, disease, and disasters that caused them to lose their families.
Many children on Lombok grow up without parents. Either because they have died or because their parents are unable to feed them. This leads to a high number of orphans living on the streets or in overcrowded children’s homes.

ToggleOrganizations who care for orphans
There are some organizations and foundations on Lombok that have made it their aim to take care of orphans.
These organizations provide support in the form of accommodation and education, as well as housing and medical care. Orphans, like all other children, must receive the assistance they require in order to begin a positive future.
Some of the orphanages on Lombok take in children without parents and children from difficult family backgrounds. In Indonesia, poor children are often given to orphanages. Some of these facilities are run by government agencies, while others are run by non-profit organizations or private individuals. It is important to note that not all orphanages are created equal. Depending on who runs them, some only provide a simple accommodation, while others have more resources and more offers.
Also, the offer of Islam lessons according to the Sunnah is very limited.
Family connection for orphans
It should be noted in principle that life in an orphanage can often be difficult for children. In our orphanage, to be supported, they have family connections. Since Angelika and Özer are already helping many families, especially children, they are already well known on the island for their relief efforts.
The orphanage project is being realized with government approval and supported by donations. And when no donations are received, the project stands still. The school within the orphanage will encourage the children to be independent and find their own ways. The aim is to offer children without families a secure future so that they can stand on their own feet.
What happens to your donation and how you can help
People work hard on the property no matter if it’s hot or even when it’s getting dark. Thanks to the donations, we have already been able to buy the steel mats for the foundation of the house.
Follow us on Instagram, where you can experience the development of the whole project. All progress will be shared and commented on.
By the way, your donations will not only help the orphans who will live there later but also pay the construction workers, who, in turn, can use the money to feed their families. In order to ensure good quality and save costs, even the stones for the construction are made in-house.
We still have a long way to go. The whole project costs around €80,000 to €90,000. So far, €25,000 has only been donated.
If you don’t just want to support this project financially, you are welcome to join our Telegram group, where flyers, articles, and groups will be posted. We need hardworking helpers to share and spread this information.
There is also a WhatsApp auction and sales group for women. Join and sign up. In sha ALLAH you also have something to auction or want to buy something.
In each group there are members who speak English and are happy to help you.
Every euro and every helping hand count. May ALLAH richly reward all who support and help this project. Amin.
Conclusion:
The Lombok Orphanage School provides an invaluable service to their community by providing orphaned children with a safe home and access to quality educational resources that would otherwise not be available to them. It’s an inspiring example of how our Ummah can really make a difference in the lives of many, and it’s also positively impacting Lombok’s future.
